About

The Awards

The WA Golf Industry awards are a collaboration between the sport’s peak representative bodies including PGA WA, GolfWA, GMA Australia WA, and the WA Golf Course Superintendents Association.

The awards honour the achievements of our finest athletes, administrators, volunteers and staff involved from across the state. The gala celebration, held in March, is a way of recognising these achievements.

Each organisation manages their individual award nomination and selection process, with nominees and guests gathering to celebrate the announcement of all of the winners.

Supporting Bodies

The PGA of Australia is the third oldest Professional Golfers Association in the world and proudly forms part of the PGA World Alliance, of which it is a founding partner. The Association traces its origin back to 1911 when a group of expatriate Scottish golf Professionals formed a national Association to promote the game of golf and elevate the vocation of the golf Professional within Australia.

The PGA of Australia is a not-for-profit Member-based organisation representing Tour Professionals, Vocational Professionals and Trainee Professionals who work in golf facilities throughout Australia and overseas. With operations spanning Tournaments, Events, Education and Vocational Services, the PGA has a vested interest in promoting golf at all levels, allowing everyone to benefit.
Today, the PGA of Australia boasts a membership of approximately 2600 golf professionals ranging from Tournament Professionals, Club Professionals, Assistant Professionals and Teaching Professionals to Golf Club Managers, Directors of Golf and Golf Operation Managers.

Golf WA is the peak representative body for the Sport in the Western Australia their aim is to encourage participation, fellowship, fair play, and the well-being of our member clubs and districts. Golf WA manages fields as diverse as the Rules of Golf, Amateur Status, course ratings, handicapping, high performance, development, participation, competitions including inter-club, district, interstate tournaments, Men’s, Women’s State Amateur and Open Championships. Golf WA also offers guidance to affiliated golf clubs and District Associations on various legal, financial, industrial, political and administrative issues as required to ensure that the wellbeing of the sport is maintained.

Golf Management Australia is a national body representing the golf club management industry and is responsible for the delivery of day-to-day operational activities and services to state associations across Australia. Established in 1949, there are approximately 500 members across the country. Golf Management Australia aims to provide professional and personal development opportunities to all its members including the tools and resources to assist members in the management of golf clubs. The organisation supports members health and wellbeing and actively advocates for the betterment of golf club management within the wider industry.

The WA Golf Course Superintendents Association represents turf industry professionals, superintendents, assistants, and others with a direct connection to the golf course industry. Formed in the 1930s as a forum to exchange information and improve the technical standards of the industry, The GCSAWA has grown considerably. It’s objectives, however, remain the same. These days, the standards of management demanded on golf courses has increased dramatically, and the need to communicate with other turf industry professionals is crucial. As our membership grows, so does the level of information available. This means higher standards and better outcomes for not only our members but also the greater golfing community.
