The purpose of this award is to recognise a facility whose primary offering includes off-course forms of golf such as a Driving Range, Mini Golf, Golf Simulators etc.

The recipient of this award will be selected based on achieving one or more of the following criteria:

Created a space where the facility or play to play reflects their community and golf is seen as a sport for all
Implementation and execution of good governance and business practices
Creates a workplace where employees are engaged and learning and development is encouraged
Financial performance and sustainability, revenue diversification, cost management, capital investment and asset management

The Metropolitan Golf Course of the Year will be judged on and awarded to the golf course that has shown the greatest improvement and success in the following areas in 2025:

The Regional Golf Course of the Year will be judged on and awarded to the golf course that has shown the greatest improvement and success in the following areas in 2025:

The purpose of this award is to recognise the most outstanding Get Into Golf Centre based on quality of the program, participant experience and community impact.

The recipient of this award will be selected based on achieving one or more of the following criteria:

– Demonstrated success in increasing adult participation in golf, particularly among new or returning players
– Delivered an engaging, structured, and beginner-friendly program that encourages long-term involvement in golf
– Created a welcoming, supportive, and accessible environment that enhances the experience of participants, regardless of age, background, or ability
– Successfully transitioned participants from the program into ongoing golf participation, whether through club membership, social play, or other golf opportunities
– Engagement and alignment with the strategy for Australian Golf 2022–2025

The purpose of this award is to recognise the most outstanding MyGolf Centre based on quality of the program, participant experience and community impact.

The recipient of this award will be selected based on achieving one or more of the following criteria:

– Demonstrated success in increasing junior golf participation through program reach, retention, and engagement
– Implemented an engaging and structured program that fosters skill development, enjoyment, and progression in junior golf
– Created a welcoming, inclusive, and fun environment that enhances the experience of junior participants and their families
– Strengthened community connections through partnerships with schools, clubs, and local organisations to expand junior golf opportunities
– Engagement and alignment with the strategy for Australian Golf 2022–2025

WOMEN & GIRLS IN GOLF AWARD

The purpose of this award is to recognise a golf club, facility, place to play or individual that has made significant strides in promoting and increasing the participation and engagement of women and girls in golf.

The recipient of this award will be selected based on achieving one or more of the following criteria:

– Venue must be a signatory to the R&A Women in Golf Charter
Australian Golf Foundation Junior Golf Scholarship Program Provider and deliverer as set out in the centre’s terms and conditions
Has championed and advocated for increasing the participation and engagement of women and girls in golf
Implemented a program that advances opportunity for women and girls in golf
The venue involved emphasises having more women in leadership, management, and board roles
– Reduced the barriers for women and girls in golf and has contributed to building a positive, gender inclusive golfing community
Engagement and alignment with the strategy for Australian Golf 2022–2025

The winner of this award will represent WA in the National Awards.

VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR

The volunteer of the year award is for a person or group whose efforts have been significantly beneficial to the management and maintenance of the facility. The volunteer may be involved in such tasks as on-course work, Match Committee duties, administration or a Board Director. The work they have contributed to the facility is recognised as selfless, constructive and profitable for the facility.

The winner of this award will represent WA in the National Awards.

EMPLOYEE OF THE YEAR

The Employee of the Year Award is for a staff member whose efforts have been significantly above their specific employment description. Their performance throughout the year will have been recognised as beneficial to the running of their place of employment. They will have provided initiative and service leading to an improved product.

DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

This award is selected by the Golf Industry Awards committee and recognises an individual’s significant contribution to the game of golf in Western Australia and Australia. 

OUTSTANDING GOLF ACHIEVEMENT

This award recognizes an individual as The Western Australian Golfer of the Year for their outstanding golfing achievements and is selected by the Golf Industry Awards Committee.

PGA Awards

HILARY LAWLER CLUB PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

The WA Club Professional of the Year award is designed to acknowledge and reward PGA Club Professionals who are the lead golf operations individuals at a facility and have excelled in their business and service to members and the community.

WA PGA COACH OF THE YEAR – High Performance

The WA PGA Coach of the Year – High Performance Award is designed to acknowledge the achievements of PGA Members who have demonstrated exceptional results as coaching professionals or elite amateurs and have built a profile within the industry.

WA PGA COACH OF THE YEAR – Game Development

The WA Coach of the Year – Game Development Award is designed to acknowledge the achievements of PGA Members who are contributing to the industry through golf coaching in all areas other than for professional or elite amateurs.

This may include (though is not limited to) club member or casual golfer coaching, women’s and All Abilities programs, grassroots game development as well as group clinics and individual lessons.

WA PGA MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR

The PGA Management of the year is designed to recognise the achievements of PGA Members in roles within the industry which require the use of management skills. Such role is not limited to role title, rather identified by the nominee controlling or managing all or part of a business with direct staffing responsibility.

PGA TOURNAMENT OF THE YEAR

All PGA-sanctioned Open style events qualify for the Tournament of the year Award. The award is voted on by the PGA professionals who participate in these events.

Superintendents Awards

ENVIRONMENTAL AWARD

The applicant needs to show the facility actually improves the surrounding environment/ecosystem in a substantial and fundamental way and have or is implementing an Environment Management System.  The applicant also needs to show that the facility can come up with methods or new ways of resolving problems.  

They need to provide a description of the current environmental management plan or system in place and demonstrate the commitment to the protection of the existing natural environment, environmental best practice and environmental stewardship. 

They must demonstrate the commitment to land management and sustainability along with demonstrating the process undertaken to protect native flora and fauna and the protection of environmentally sensitive areas. 

The club needs to be participating in the Waterwise Program and show results of the environmental work undertaken over the last 24 months. The club needs to show it is working towards less reliability on water, fertilisers, and chemicals.

 SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR

The applicant must be a financial A-Class member of the GCSAWA and have been employed as a Superintendent for at least the last 2 years.

The Superintendent must be able to demonstrate improvements to the golf course over the last 24 months; changes in maintenance techniques, new innovations or construction; and present a well-maintained course throughout all seasons of the year.

The applicant needs to demonstrate the ability to hold a Professional, Golf Australia or GolfWA event, show course improvements beyond regular maintenance and improve the golf course taking into consideration the staff numbers and budget.

The applicant also needs to demonstrate involvement in the industry, acquired or updated qualifications and helped the industry with the development of apprentices and staff.

APPRENTICE OF THE YEAR

The apprentice must have completed a golf course apprenticeship including three years at TAFE completing all turf industry units. They must have shown above-average skills and motivation during the three years of their apprenticeship.

Applicants need to show how the award will assist their career path and demonstrate their achievements both on job and academically.

The winner will represent WA to compete for the National Award at the AGCSA conference.
